Family road trips are too much fun to pass up, especially on Memorial Day Weekend. You have an extra long weekend so enjoy going that extra mile! We want to ensure our customers at Coral Springs Nissan and their families are safe and enjoy their holiday. We’ve come up with some helpful tips to ensure this Memorial Day Weekend is one to remember! So get your plans in motion and organize a fabulous mini vacation for the upcoming three day weekend!

1. Make Your Destination 4 Hours Away – or Less!

Memorial day weekend is just 3 days so you want to maximize your vacation time and not spend the majority of it in the car. Trust us, I think you’ll agree your family will thank you. In addition, many travelers will have the same plan to road trip this Memorial Day causing the roads to be very packed and increasing the risks for accidents. Less time on the road, the better!

2. Over-Pack the Essentials!

When it comes to road trips the two essentials are always food and entertainment. We suggest you bring plenty of snacks, water bottles and fun car games/activities to keep your family entertained while you drive. Bring a cooler in the car that’s packed full of healthy and relatively mess-free snacks like baby carrots, raisins and apple slices. Make sure you can easily reach the cooler without having to pull over. There is no use packing a cooler in the back of the SUV where you cannot reach it while you travel. Pack books, coloring books, magnetic or travel games and other things to keep your family occupied as you travel on your weekend adventure. A metal cookie sheet turned upside down makes for a perfect travel desk for coloring book activities and games!

3. Take a break, step outside the car, and take in the scenery/ fresh air!

It is only a matter of time before everyone starts getting antsy. Pull over at a scenic rest stop where you can snap a few pictures, stretch your legs and simply shake it all off. Who knows, some of your greatest vacation memories may happen on a spontaneous rest stop! Avoid stopping just to go sit down at a restaurant to eat as this just adds “sitting time” to the trip. Grab some quick-and-easy food to go or simply pack more substantial items than just snacks.

4. Avoid the beaten path and rush-hour travel times!

Let’s face it, you are probably not the only family gearing up for a road trip this Memorial Day weekend, observe how traffic will affect your travels. Do your research and see if there are any safe, back roads that might take you around any congested area. Make sure to set your settings to “Show Traffic” on your ‘Maps’ section of your phone, this will help you avoid any unforeseen issues or at least let you know how long the traffic will last. Lastly, plan to do the majority of your travels in the evening or the early morning when most of the weekend traffic is not on the road.

5. Stay Safe and Schedule your car to be Serviced a few days prior to your vacation!

Get your tires, battery, and engine checked to ensure your car is as ready as your family is to get away!! Schedule your service appointment with our award winning service department.

Make the most of your Memorial Day Weekend, get out there and have a wonderful mini vacation with your family and friends! If you are pulling a stay-cation and are in the market for a new vehicle, keep Coral Springs Nissan in mind!
